This basic part codes for the C-terminal domain of cellobiohydrolase I from Trichoderma reesei, a peptide sequence that binds to cellulose. The cellulose binding domain (CBD) exhibits fully reversible interaction with cellulose. The binding is temperature sensitive, and the CBD shows an increased affinity for cellulose at lower temperatures.
